Info-Rights is an organization devoted to
providing
experienced, affordable and realistic legal advice
to the middle class at large. It was founded
in 1988 by its president, LORNE H. MARCHAND,
an attorney with a strong social conscience
who began practicing law in the City
and District of Montreal in 1969.
After many years in practice, Me Marchand
came to the conclusion that both ends of
the economic scale were well served as far
as accessibility to legal help was concerned.
Ninety percent of lawyers represent ten
percent of the public which usually includes
the wealthiest; conversely, the most disadvantaged
twenty percent are eligible for government sponsored legal aid.
This leaves the large bulk of the middle class, namely seventy percent of the population without legal representation when a calamity occurs. With this realization in mind, INFO-RIGHTS was founded in order to give people access to realistic solutions based on caring lawyers' experience and life-skills honed over many years of practice.
The emphasis is on rapid realistic solutions to real problems - a form of preventative law which attempts to settle issues before they get out of hand and become costly legal nightmares. INFO-RIGHTS' attorneys tell you what you need to know and not what you want to hear - even if it means advice to do nothing in the immediate future under the particular circumstances. The philosophy is to render quality, low-cost advice to many - as opposed to the same advice rendered only to a few who can afford superior prices. The overriding consideration is to give advice on the best course of action; on whether litigation is necessary and if so, at what cost. The advantages and pitfalls of contemplating litigation, and the alternate dispute resolutions available which may be more efficacious and more cost-effective are also considered.
Contrary to popular misconception, our philosophy is to settle potential disputes as early as possible rather than frighten people into spending large sums of money on lawyers and litigation. If litigation is necessary, we will tell you the time frame involved, the approximate cost and most importantly, your relative chances of success.
